Pine essential oil is a scent that brings the forest to you — no need to leave home. Its fresh, clean, coniferous aroma creates an atmosphere of calm, pure air, and inner balance — perfect for those seeking moments of relaxation, even on the busiest days.
This oil is considered one of the gentlest and safest options in classic aromatherapy. Ideal for sensitive individuals, those who spend long hours indoors, or anyone under frequent stress, it offers a subtle and natural way to restore calm and reconnect with the grounding harmony of the forest.
Description
Pine essential oil, originating from Bulgaria, is valued in aromatherapy for its gentle effect, safety and versatility. Extracted from pine needles through steam distillation, it retains the authentic, non-synthetic scent of pine — evoking the sensation of walking through a forest filled with light, clean air, and natural tranquillity.
Scientific studies have shown that the aromas of forests and conifers promote relaxation, ease tension, enhance concentration, and reduce fatigue. It's no surprise that pine essential oil is often used in workspaces — both offices and creative studios — to create a calm and inspiring environment.
This essential oil offers a delicate balance: it’s refreshing without being overpowering, and strong without being harsh. That makes it especially suitable for children and individuals sensitive to scents. The aroma is pure and natural — nothing artificial, just the spirit of the forest captured in a small bottle.
Pine essential oil is like fragrant forest therapy that you can experience anytime you need a break from the noisy world.
How to use?
Diffusion:
Pine oil gently purifies the air, eliminates unpleasant odors, and positively affects mood. Its properties shine when used in an essential oil diffuser. During the day, diffuse 6–8 drops of essential oil, and 3–4 drops at night. Pine oil can safely be diffused overnight — the scent won’t disturb your sleep.
Pine oil is also a common choice for sauna use. Pour warm water into a metal bowl, add 20–25 drops of pine oil, and place it in the warmest part of the sauna, on the top bench. Never pour water with essential oils directly onto hot stones — the high heat not only destroys the therapeutic properties of the oils but can also release harmful compounds. High heat and essential oils don’t mix well.
Body care:
Pine baths are highly recommended for people who experience excessive sweating or unpleasant body odor! Pine oil regulates perspiration and deodorizes the body. Remember, essential oils do not dissolve in water, so they must be diluted first! Add the desired number of pine oil drops to a teaspoon of carrier oil (e.g. sweet almond oil) and only then pour the fragrant mixture into the bath.
Massage:
For relaxing massages or warming rubs for joints and muscles, mix pine oil with chamomile and lavender essential oils to make a 2% oil blend.
Formula: 50 ml carrier oil + 10 drops pine oil + 10 drops lavender essential oil + 5 drops chamomile essential oil.
Home use:
Add a touch of freshness and a wonderful forest aroma to your home: add 8–10 drops of pine oil to the water you use to clean floors and other surfaces.
Recommended number of drops by age:
- 0–6 months — 1 drop
- 6–12 months — 2–3 drops
- 1–3 years — 3–4 drops
- 3–7 years — 3–5 drops
- 7–12 years — 4–6 drops
- 12+ and adults — 5–8 drops
If you don’t have a bathtub, you can add a few drops of pine oil to an unscented shower gel or body wash!
Warnings
- Do not apply pure (undiluted) essential oils directly to the skin, as they may cause severe irritation or burns.
- Do not ingest or take essential oils internally (unless prescribed by your doctor).
- Do not add pure (undiluted) essential oils directly to bath water, as this may cause serious skin irritation or burns.
- Never use essential oils in an inhaler. This device breaks essential oils into micro-particles that go directly into the lung alveoli. Such use can cause severe mucous membrane irritation, bronchospasm, or even chemical pneumonia.
- Avoid contact with eyes and mucous membranes.
- For infants and children, use only age-appropriate essential oils.
- Use essential oils sparingly—the main principle of aromatherapy is “less is more.”
- Keep essential oils out of sight and reach of children.
- Store bottles in a dark, cool, and dry place, as exposure to environmental factors can alter or reduce the properties of essential oils.
