This oil not only delights with its scent but also has skin-nourishing properties. Aromatherapists call it ”liquid sunshine” because it balances emotions, helps to recover from stress and fills the home with cosiness, especially during the cold season.

Description

Pink grapefruit essential oil is extracted from the peel of Citrus paradisi fruit using cold pressing, which preserves all of its natural active ingredients. This method is particularly important in the production of citrus oils, as they are sensitive to heat. Interestingly, grapefruit oil is more difficult to extract than other citrus oils because the oil glands are deeper in the peel, making the extraction process more challenging. 

Grapefruit essential oil has a high limonene content, which is the main component that gives the oil its characteristic citrus aroma and antioxidant properties. It also contains other terpenes such as myrcene, pinene, and sabinene, which contribute to the oil's therapeutic effects. 

During production, about 2 kg of essential oil can be extracted from one ton of grapefruit peel. This means that approximately 5 kg of peel must be processed to produce a 10 ml bottle. The process requires a large amount of raw material, making grapefruit essential oil a valuable and special product. 

Pink grapefruit essential oil not only has a delightful scent but also offers various beneficial properties. It helps balance mood, reduce stress and tension, and can also be beneficial for skincare, as it helps regulate oil secretion and gives the skin a feeling of freshness. 
How to use?

Diffusion: 
Add 6–8 drops of grapefruit essential oil to an electric diffuser during the day, and 3–4 drops in the evening, always blending it with non-stimulating essential oils such as bergamot, mandarin, or lavender. 
Grapefruit essential oil is toning and invigorating, so it is not recommended for nighttime diffusion — it may negatively affect sleep quality. However, it’s perfect for morning diffusion sessions, especially for those who struggle to wake up and start the day. 

Aromatherapy synergies: 
Grapefruit (6 drops) + Ylang-Ylang (2 drops) 
Grapefruit (5 drops) + Fir-tree (3 drops) 
Grapefruit (5 drops) + Peppermint (3 drops) 

Body care: 
Hand soap: add 20 drops of grapefruit essential oil to 200 ml of unscented liquid soap, shake well, and enjoy the refreshing scent. 

If you have oily skin or hair that gets greasy quickly, you can regulate sebum production by adding a few drops of grapefruit essential oil to your facial cleanser or shampoo (add only to a single-use amount). 

Make a brightening and firming facial oil: mix 50 ml of camellia oil, 5 drops of Ylang-Ylang essential oil, and 7 drops of grapefruit essential oil. Spray your skin with a hydrosol and massage the mixture into your face, neck and chest.  

Massage: 
Energizing massage oil: 50 ml sweet almond oil + 12 drops of grapefruit essential oil. 
Soothing massage blend after workouts: 50 ml carrier oil + 5 drops grapefruit essential oil + 5 drops pine essential oil + 5 drops lavender essential oil. 

Anti-cellulite massage: 50 ml sweet almond oil + 20 drops rosemary essential oil + 20 drops grapefruit essential oil. Massage vigorously into the skin after a bath or shower. Not suitable for pregnant women! 

Never add pure grapefruit essential oil directly to bath water! It must be diluted in a carrier oil. Mix 5–8 drops of grapefruit essential oil into a teaspoon of sweet almond or camellia oil and pour the mixture into the bath. Not recommended for children or people with sensitive skin. 

Home care: 
Room spray: add 50 drops of grapefruit essential oil to a 100 ml dark glass spray bottle, fill with water, shake well, and spray around the room. 

Cleaning floors and furniture: add 10 drops of grapefruit essential oil to a bucket of water, dampen a cloth, and wipe surfaces. 

Important! 

Grapefruit essential oil can increase skin sensitivity to UV rays, so avoid direct sunlight for at least 12 hours after use. 

Essential oils are highly concentrated natural chemicals, so they should never be applied directly to the skin — always dilute them in a carrier oil. 

Not recommended for pregnant women or people with sensitive skin. 

Store essential oils in dark glass bottles to preserve their quality.

  • Do not ingest or take essential oils internally (unless prescribed by your doctor). 
  • Do not add pure (undiluted) essential oils directly to bath water, as this may cause serious skin irritation or burns. 
  • Never use essential oils in an inhaler. This device breaks essential oils into micro-particles that go directly into the lung alveoli. Such use can cause severe mucous membrane irritation, bronchospasm, or even chemical pneumonia. 
  • Avoid contact with eyes and mucous membranes. 
  • For infants and children, use only age-appropriate essential oils. 
  • Use essential oils sparingly—the main principle of aromatherapy is “less is more.” 
  • Keep essential oils out of sight and reach of children. 
  • Store bottles in a dark, cool, and dry place, as exposure to environmental factors can alter or reduce the properties of essential oils.
